Some states now allow qualifying adults to carry without a permit. A license can still matter for travel, reciprocity, and places that treat license holders differently.

Permitless carry vs a license

More than half of U.S. states now allow some form of permitless carry. That does not make a license useless. People still get licensed to carry in other states, to follow license-holder rules at home, and to have proof of training on file.

Check your own state before you carry. Laws and reciprocity lists change.

Ohio guide

Ohio has been permitless for qualifying adults 21+ since June 13, 2022. Ohio still issues an optional Concealed Handgun License through county sheriffs. Read the Ohio guide.

Does any website issue a concealed carry permit?

No. Issuing agencies do.

Is an online CCW class the same as a permit?

No. It is training paperwork. Your state decides whether that paperwork counts.

Do I need a permit if my state is permitless?

Not always to carry at home. You may still want a license for travel and reciprocity.

Who should I believe on reciprocity?

The official attorney general or state police page for the state you are visiting. Not a blog map.
